National not-for-profit connecting and backing women across tech and digital.
Women in Digital is a national Australian not-for-profit founded in 2014 to connect, educate and support women across the tech and digital industries. It runs events, mentoring, awards and corporate partnerships. It acts as a central hub for diversity and inclusion work in digital workplaces.
Events, awards, mentoring and a growing membership were all being run off a site that could not hold any of them. The old platform was static, hard to manage, and had no tools for membership engagement at all. Onboarding a member, releasing exclusive content and getting the community talking to each other were manual and slow. Growth made it worse: every new program added load the site could not take.
A community organisation's website is really a membership product, so we built it as one. The rebuild ran on HubSpot Content Hub Pro using the Nexus Enterprise theme, which gave us a portal structure without starting from zero. Gated content, dashboards, event calendars and resource libraries were treated as the core of the site rather than sections added to a brochure. Everything was built modular, so the Women in Digital team runs its own programs without booking developer time.
Onboarding a member is now a path rather than a process someone runs by hand. Members reach exclusive content directly and have somewhere to find each other, which is the point of a community organisation. The team updates events, awards and resources itself. The presence finally matches the size of the community behind it.
